I just joined the community yesterday and I know there have probably been lots of requests for housing options during the SLS run.  But I just decided to go this morning and now I find myself unsure of where to stay.  The cheaper the better.  If I can get somewhere cheaper than $200/night then I can afford to stay for three nights instead of two.  So any ideas are more than welcome!

Also, I'll be going December 13 if anyone else is and might like to meet up for dinner/lunch/whatever.

Places to stay

Here are a couple of ideas for inexpensive (sort of) places in NYC, which is very expensive. One is hotwire.com -- I have used them a few times and have always been pleased with the places I have stayed. Tell them where you want to be and when, then they list places by price. The play is in mid-town, so that would be a good first place to look.

Another place to find some good deals is by going to the roughguide.com site (Rough Guides). They have lots of inexpensive options--including hostels and alternates to hotels.

Good luck!

Whenever I go to NY I stay at a place called the Broadway Inn. It's right near all the theatres and the rates are the best I've found in the city. The hotel staff are also very helpful and the rooms are clean. http://www.broadwayinn.com/ is the website.

Thank you so much! My other hotel I was looking at was booked so I ended up getting a room here. It looks really quaint and all the reveiws seem to be positive. I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for the recommendation!

I thought I'd just ask if you remember whether they have hair dryers in their rooms. I really don't want to pack one but I also don't want to have bad hair either. Thanks for the help!

I'm staying at the Milford Plaza Hotel...it's a block away from the theatre AND Times Square. The rates are going for about $170 a night, they recently went up.
